Words for Wellness 3 - My body knows what my mind resists
If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration. ~ Nikola Tesla
Energy is a wonderful thing until you don’t have any. My energy reserves have been seriously depleted over the last few weeks with being ill and at times it’s been frustrating to know the only thing I can do is lie down and rest to let my body heal.
How often do we not allow ourselves the time to rest and heal, both physically and emotionally? It’s perhaps the greatest gift of self care we can give ourselves and yet we resist.
There can be a multitude of reasons we tell ourselves - we have too much to do, or there are better things we should and could be doing; and most of these thoughts are often accompanied by a myriad of emotions and feelings - guilt, shame, feeling undeserving and / or lazy.
But energy depletion is so much more than our health and well-being, its our environment, the people we surround ourselves with, the things we’re doing and the way we spend our time both in our working life and in our free time.
Restoring our energy reserves is also the single biggest contributor to ensuring we stay healthy, happy and motivated.

Sometimes improving our energetic boundaries can be the best place to start;
💥 Tune into your body- energy maintenance always begins with simple self-awareness
💥 Explore your energy – ask yourself, is this mine or someone else’s energy
💥 Create your own shield - sometimes we can’t entirely remove other people’s energy
💥 Limit situations that drain you – remind yourself, self protection is not selfish
💥 Create a time limit - sometimes it’s a matter of noticing what’s draining us.
💥 Concentrate on the things which feel good - incorporate more people, places and things which light you up
💥 Be mindful of obligation – when it’s not coming from a desire within us, but we feel we ‘need’ to.
💥 Wash it all way – imagine any negative energy washing off you and swirling down the drain.
Daring to set boundaries is about having the courage to love ourselves even when we risk disappointing others ~ Brene Brown
✏️ Journaling Practice
It’s time to do an energy inventory and be honest with yourself about what truly fills up your energy bucket and what depletes it, and more importantly what changes do you need to make.
Settle down with your journal and choose a few questions (you don’t have to answer them all) let the ones that resonate take you on a journey. Don’t write what you think you should write, write what needs to be said and acknowledged.
👨👩👦👦 People
Who is draining me or my time? What exactly keeps me holding on to these people?
Among friends and others I spend time with, are there any relationships that are no longer supportive?
Where am I tolerating or dealing with behaviours or actions that drain me on a regular basis?
⏰ Time
What are five things I love to do in my business/work that also bring in income?
What are five things I resist or even despise doing that drain my energy but need to get done?
If I’m being honest, what habits or activities do I spend time on mindlessly, simply because I’ve always done them?
How would I prefer to be spending my time?
🌴 Environment
True or false: My environment supports my best self. The spaces where I work, relax, and play are exactly how I want them – free of clutter and other messes.
If the answer is false, what needs to change?
Does my work environment align with my values and beliefs - are the people kind and supportive, can I be my true creative self, am I doing my best work. Ask yourself questions that best relate to your needs?
What would I change first, describe it in detail, what it looks like and how it makes you feel - could be your bedroom, home, workplace, car? Any space where you spend lots of time.

Remembering the beautiful connectivity to all of life.
🦋 We find it in the stillness, space and silence slipping into our lives.
🦋 We find it in the serendipity, signs and symbols we begin to notice.
🦋 We find it in the messengers who appear, guiding us forward.
And we find it in the remarkable way in which life can organise itself to meet us — when we get out of the way long enough to allow it.
Cultivating more stillness, space and silence alleviates the rational mind’s grip, giving way to the subtle intuitive whisper just below the surface. In this space, you begin to feel and know your heart and soul.

🔥 Your Call to Action
This week use your words and visualisation to create your own energetic boundaries.
☀️ Sit or stand quietly in a safe place where you can be alone. Make sure you’re comfortable and won’t be disturbed, and then close your eyes.
☀️ Say your name to yourself. Feel the sense of “self” (i.e., you) when you say your name. Tune into the feeling of being truly yourself.
☀️ Imagine a bubble of colour (any colour that feels right) extending out around you - up to a metre. This is your energetic boundary, now declare to yourself and the Universe that the space inside this is your space; for you alone. Anything that is “Not-Me” is not permitted entry into this space and needs to stay outside of the bubble.
☀️ Say your name again a few times and clear out anything “Not-Me” from your personal space. You can imagine it exiting in any way you like; you might like to visualise grey smoke blowing away, or it flowing down the drain and leaving your space clear.
☀️ Then, when you are out and about around other people, regularly declare your “Me/Not-Me” by visualising your energetic boundary, and that other people’s energies bounce off it.
Notes:
You can meet the thoughts, feelings, and emotions of others with understanding and compassion out at the edge of “your space” in your imagination, but their energy isn’t allowed entry!
This can be a great tool to have in your personal energetic toolkit, especially in the workplace or in places or situations when you’re feeling uncomfortable or overwhelmed (and in a pinch, even sitting in the bathroom / toilet to regroup and help you put your energetic boundaries in place can help)
